Here Curtis shares his first tip on Attracting TOP Employees with Low Cost Benefit Plans:

As an employer, one of the most important and sometimes difficult challenges we face is attracting great employees who stay with us for the long term. With the increasing competitiveness of the Saskatchewan job market, not only do we need to be competitive with our salaries, bonuses, vacation time, flex time and so on; we need to look for other ways to attract and retain great employees.

One of the most common questions I get from small business owner is, “I keep training all these great people, and they end up going to XYZ employer because they offer benefits. I can’t afford benefits!”

Well – maybe you can! Many small business owners are unaware that there are several companies in Canada will offer comprehensive employee health, disability, and dental plans for as low as 2 employees. Benefit plans are very flexible nowadays, and will allow an employer to custom design a plan that fits the business and its employee’s needs; and can be obtained for a surprisingly reasonable cost. It’s also not the business owners sole responsibility to pay for the entire cost to offer employee benefits, most businesses share this cost with the employee as a simple payroll deduction.

In addition to offering your employees disability benefits, prescription drug, massage, chiropractic dental & vision care benefits as part of your employment package; many employers are also looking into the option of offering a “Small Group RRSP”. This is another payroll deducted benefit option that will give your employees the ability to save for their retirement and also help retain them for the long term.

Having the opportunity to offer “Benefits” on your job description will dramatically increase your ability to attract and retain the BEST talent for the position you want to fill. Ask our experienced TRUSTED Saskatoon benefits advisor, Curtis Haigh, just how simple it is to set up your benefits plan!
